We are headed into a very busy, exciting and magical time of the year for children. Many families have beliefs and traditions that are be different from the ones celebrated in other homes. As part of our social development and discovery lessons, we will be learning about a variety of holidays from around the world. We will focus on how holidays and celebrations are the same and how they are different.
It is very important to me that children are allowed to believe in and experience the traditions that are celebrated in their families. Therefore, I am asking that if you are a family that chooses not to believe in and/or not to celebrate some of the more mystical traditions like Santa Claus that you have a conversation with your child about how to be respectful of others beliefs. It is often easier for families to address these differences in small controlled conversations rather than a whole class discussion.
If you have concerns or questions about any of the holidays or traditions we will be learning about, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am also still looking for to volunteers to come visit our classroom and share traditions.
