The class selected two social skills to focus on for next week: being kind and following directions the first time. They felt these skills would help everyone to feel safe and to be able to learn. I encourage you to ask your child about being kind at school.
As a class we have established our classroom expectations. Our overall goal is to use the Golden Rule - treat others the way that you want to be treated. In addition to the Golden Rule, we have defined what Safe, Respectful and Responsible look like in our room.
Safe
Follow directions
Be in control of your body
KHFOOTY (keep, hands, feet and other objects to yourself)
Respectful
Whole body listening
Raise hands to speak
Sit up during learning times
Responsible
Do your best
Take care of your things
Take care of others
Use your time wisely
Stuffed Animal Day
We had a lot of fun on Stuffed Animal Day. Students shared a wide variety of stuffed animals and told a bit about their stuffed creatures. The stuffed animals joined us at the rug, were read to during literacy time and even went out for play time. It was a very successful celebration of filling our 4th chip bucket.
Book Orders
Book orders were sent home in folders last Thursday. Book orders are due Friday, September 22nd. You may place an order with the paper flyer or online at Scholastic Book Clubs. If you place an order online, our class code is DPB6G. If you wish to order books as a gift and do not want your child to know about the order, please let me know and I can notify you when the books arrive.
Reminders
- Please help your child to remember that we do not bring personal toys to school.
- It is often cool and damp in the morning when we first go outside. An extra pair of shoes helps to keep our room clean. Students may leave an extra pair of shoes in their hall cubbies.
- There is often time for the students to munch and work during the afternoon. Many children are complaining of being hungry by early afternoon but do not have any food left. I have encouraged them to let their families know that they might need additional food in their lunch boxes. If you would like to donate to the class "emergency" snack supply, please feel free to send in snacks.
- The school hike is September 29th. If your child will need a bag lunch for that day, please let me know by this Wednesday, September 20th. Food service staff needs time to place the order.
