On Wednesday, we helped to plant an apple tree in memory of David Colburn long-time East Montpelier resident, and Rotary Club member. The planting was led by high school students from the Technical Center. The high school students explained what they were doing and how the steps they took would help the tree grow. The first graders were invited to help place the soil and the mulch around the tree. We are looking forward to watching the Wine Crisp Apple Tree grow in the coming years.
We had our second trip to the Maker Space on Friday morning. While there, we began to work on building "Bee-Town". After brainstorming important attributes of a community, the class listed buildings they felt were important in a community. Each student then selected a building and built it using cups and materials from the Maker Space. We will use these buildings as we build a three dimensional map to drive our Bee-Bot through.
Friday afternoon, we joined with our big buddies to make pumpkins and show our appreciation for the local fire fighters and paramedics. We were joined by two fire fighters from the East Montpelier station. They shared with us some basic fire safety tips.
Friday night was are annual Monster Mash. Those that attended played games, enjoyed treats and danced. Everyone seemed to have a fabulous time. This event is a fundraiser for the PTNO and is organized primarily by Jillian Zeilenga.
