On Friday, we worked with our 5th and 6th grade buddies to create woven pumpkins. This was an interesting task. When Ms. Gallagher and I decided on the project, we thought it would be an opportunity for the older buddies to teach the younger ones. In many cases, this was not true. The first graders had the chance to teach their buddies how to weave. It was a great opportunity to discuss growth mindset and persistence.
We are really enjoying watching the relationships between these two classes develop. I've had the pleasure to witness the 5/6th grade students "helping" with a variety of tasks from getting shoes tied to starting games at recess.
